If you are likely to be away from home for more than twelve hours you should make arrangements to have your kitten or cat looked after. Friends and neighbours and house sitters may help and there will be local boarding catteries. If your cat has to go into a cattery, choose one that has a good reputation. Your vet may be able to recommend a suitable one.
If you haven’t used a particular cattery before, it is always advisable to pay a visit before making a booking to satisfy yourself that it is of a good standard. You may also consider trying it out before an annual holiday by booking your kitten or cat for a short stay.
The cattery will ask for a current vaccination certificate before accepting your cat and details of how you can be contacted in an emergency.
